About Sharad Pawar

Sharad Pawar is an Indian politician & Padma Vibhusan awardee who is currently the President of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He has also been a member of Rajya Sabha since 2014 and served as a Lok Sabha MP from 1991 to 2009. Born in the Baramati district of Maharashtra, Pawar served as the CM of Maharashtra on three different occasions. He was also the Defense Minister of India during 1991-1993 and the Minister of Agriculture during 2004-2014. In 1999, he along with P.A. Sangma formed the NCP. Sharad Pawar is also a former Chairman of BCCI (2005-2008) and held the post of President of ICC during 2010-2012. His nephew, Ajit Pawar, is a former Deputy CM of Maharashtra and his daughter Supriya Sule, is an MP in the 17th Lok Sabha.
